Fireproof cabinets are a primary application for our ground-breaking Shut-Lok technology. When the health and safety of your employees, visitors, and other personnel is at stake, no effort should be spared in creating an environment which will contain any hazards which may be present and prevent the unauthorized use of dangerous materials.
Many company workplaces and industrial facilities, as well as the premises of various other organisations and even some private homes, make use of fire cabinets to allow for the indoor storage of highly flammable chemicals. These are usually heavy-duty storage lockers made from welded steel, with hinged fireproof doors. Their flameproof construction features can include insulated firewall panels and containment bunds – double-walled compartments designed to contain even the most volatile and corrosive of liquids. EN14470-1 is the standard for workplace fire proof cabinets, which are important for COSHH compliance. If an accidental reaction starts a chemical fire at your facility, these fire cabinets can contain the conflagration for a minimum of 90 minutes, allowing for evacuation and containment measures. Shut-Lok's unique and versatile locking system is designed to not only prevent fireproof cabinet doors from being opened with the key, but also to anchor them in place, eliminating gaps which may compromise containment. The wings which deploy from the sides of the barrel draw the reverse of the faceplate flush with the cabinet doors, so that no leaks will occur. The team behind Shut-Lok wanted the device to be, not only resistant to picking, but also to have a rounded, low-profile shape which would make it extremely difficult for anyone to attack the unit using mechanical means. In the case of fireproof or hazardous cabinets, these features give you extra reassurance that your potentially dangerous materials will be secure.
